Every June for the last few years we have welcomed a wonderful group of students and teachers from Sheng Kung Hui (Anglican Church) Choikou School, Macau to visit Taiwan to see church and community service projects.
This year’s group arrived on Saturday and worshiped with us at Advent Church yesterday….
After a week in Taiwan based here at St. John’s University, they go to Hong Kong for a few more days of visiting projects. It is such a great opportunity for them all ~ some are Christians and some are not ~ all come hoping to learn and discover!
One of the Macau students was wearing a great T-shirt saying ‘NO GUTS, NO GLORY’ – such an attitude will get them all far!
Their teachers say that this is a valuable chance for their students to see what’s going on in Taiwan and Hong Kong ~ and who knows, hopefully discover that a life of helping others is fulfilling and rewarding.
And of course as Macau’s main industry and employment revolves around the world of gambling, we hope this trip can open their eyes to possible alternative careers!
