And so to Da-Xi in Taoyuan County yesterday for a very moving Memorial Service to mark the first anniversary of the death of a very special lady, Mrs. Tsai A-Mei ~ mother of our great friend Feng-Mei.
Her death and funeral were actually last year in February 2012 (recorded in my blog post here – and the amazing story of how she became a Christian just before she died, and so had a Christian funeral). So this Memorial Service has been a bit delayed, but in the meantime, both Feng-Mei and her sister have had babies, and younger brother’s wife is now expecting her third child.. so they’ve been busy!
The Memorial Service was led by Rev. Lily Chang of Good Shepherd Church, Taipei and held in the room where the urns of ashes are stored. The ashes of Feng-Mei’s mother are up on the top row (second from right) – she’s the only one in the immediate area with a cross on the door, all the others have the Buddhist symbols….
A very beautiful service of prayers and readings and a short talk, followed by the blessing and then individual blessings for all the children. The good news is that the 3 older children of Feng-Mei’s sister are now going to Sunday School every Sunday in a church nearby…
Feng-Mei herself lives in PengHu, islands off Taiwan’s S. W. coast, so this is the first time that her new baby has met her mother’s family….
Group photo at the main entrance before we all head to Da-Xi Town for Beef Noodles for lunch…
Please do pray for this family, they are very very special!
