So excited! Off to the airport last Saturday to welcome our long-awaited VIP visitor and good friend Lynn Baguiwet on her first ever visit to Taiwan YA!
St. James’ Episcopal Church in Taichung has raised the money over the last 15 years or so to build a total of 12 churches in the Episcopal Diocese of Central Philippines EDCP, and on our visit there last November we invited their Finance Officer, Lynn to come and visit us in Taiwan – in thanksgiving for all her wonderful help over the years..
And here she is, visiting us for 2 weeks… YES! Welcome Lynn – and she’s already made friends with everyone here at every place we’ve been so far – the beach, the streets, the bus and tons of eating places – too many photos to post here ha ha!
Yesterday we went to the English Service at Good Shepherd Church in Taipei – turned out to be a VIP occasion for the 30th anniversary of independence for St. Kitts and Nevis. A wonderful celebration – and we sang their national anthem too…. The preacher was Monsignor Paul Russell, Papal Envoy of the Holy See, and there were speeches from St. Kitts and Nevis Ambassador Jasmine Huggins (who is also a member of Good Shepherd English Congregation) and Taiwan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Simon Ko. All followed by a big reception and of course, lots of photos too!
A great delight for Lynn to meet Christopher Chen and his lovely family (son of Rev. Charles C. T. Chen whose vision inspired the whole church-building project in the Philippines)…. they’re in the bottom right photo above…
Followed by a visit to St. John’s Cathedral, and then St. Christopher’s R. C. Church in Taipei where the Filipino community all gather on Sundays for worship.. they were dancing in the aisles, it was great!
And finally last night to Tamsui and the Fisherman’s Wharf….
Welcome Lynn to Taiwan – we’re so happy to welcome you YES!
