The banners are out ~ we’re almost ready!

Starting way down the hill by the river at the MRT station, the flags and banners are everywhere, on every lamppost along the main road, and especially all round our campus ~ all announcing this week’s major event, the Tenth World Reunion of St. Johns’s University (SJU) Shanghai Alumni (known as Johanneans), being held here at St. John’s University, Taiwan!

Due to government policies in China at the time, SJU Shanghai ceased to exist after 1952, and it was the SJU Shanghai alumni – together with St. Mary’s Hall, Shanghai alumni and the Taiwan Episcopal Church – who established the successor institution here in Taiwan, now known as St. John’s University, Taiwan – that’s us!

The youngest SJU Shanghai alumni are now well into their 80’s, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming 150 of them – from all over the world.  So watch this space, and please pray for us all!
