Our annual Coming-of-Age Ceremony yesterday here at St. John’s University for all the first year students, and their parents and teachers ~ plus of course VIPs.
Brand new red SJU ties for all the students and faculty – very smart, even if many needed a bit of help to put them on lol!
2 brave young men from our student fellowship gave speeches on behalf of all the students, one in Chinese and En-ze in English, and then one of our girls led the prayers. The student fellowship group also did much of the setting up and led the singing – always a joy to hear and see them in action!
It was my responsibility to get the English speech up to scratch, and yes, En-ze did a great job! Not an easy task to give a speech in English in front of well over 1,000 people….
And here he is on you tube – congratulations En-ze!
Bishop Lai blessed the wine, and everyone had a small cup of wine to toast, we had speeches and awards and songs (including a blind lady whose voice was amazing!) and presentations of flowers to faculty and parents ~ all organized by SJU Chaplaincy….
Ah, the responsibilities of becoming an adult – welcome students to the real world!
